Divine Intervention
There was man lost and hungry in a wasteland. He saw an old dog limping along. The dog lay down exhausted and close to death. Suddenly, a lion came along with a gazelle in its jaws. The lion ate, left the remains and padded off for a snooze in a shade. The dog got up and started to eat what the lion had left, slowly and steadily regaining its strength.
The man thought how great is God’s bounty and he resolved to sit down and imitate the dog – confident that God would provide for him as He had done for the dog.
Four days later, at death’s door, the man pleaded with God “Why did you not intervene?”
“Son, ” said God, “you should imitate the lion not the dog.”
